Working with Evil Corporations as our theme meant finding design primitives and patterns which contain a kind of “evil essence”.
We decided on hexagons and trapezoids/pyramids, partly because of their association with groups such as the Illuminati in western culture, and also because it gave us a set of primitives that would scale.
Every part of the game's design derives from these, from 10x10 pixel card iconography to the game box itself. As a fun spin on the theme, our logo references a very old AOL logo.
Information architecture is a crucial part of game design, as you need to quickly let a player know at a glance what multiple things mean in a space the size of a playing card, so you will notice our use of pyramids and hexagons as the main pattern.
